Ah, life is happy
We make it sad
By often thinking wrong
How silly and bad
Let us think of moonlight
While walking under the Sun
All the heat and dust
Will seem to be fun
Let us talk about stars
With a dry dead leaf
Fill heart with smiles
Wiping out the grief
Cherish little things
Like a mole on a dame's chin
A child's blowing nose
And a monkey's naughty grin
Let us think of aroma around
Amidst thorns when we walk
And sing romance in mind
When there's a hurting talk
Lets be always happy
By making thinking right
And make life beautiful
Cheerful, smiling and bright..

This poem originally appeared in my book "A Little More Than Ordinary" which was published and released in Pune in 2002 .. I am happy to present it here for Poets Rally Week 40... hosted by Vinay...and other friends..who keep on inspiring.. This poem is aimed at making every one try to do which I have been trying always... Practicing Happiness..

I loved the last stanza. A great heartfelt poem.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, we can be happy if we choose. It is a mystery that we do not always choose happiness!

You beautifully express what I have come to believe: We are as happy as we choose to be and we create our own reality.
ReplyDeletemy smile gets bigger with each line. thank you so much :)
ReplyDeleteLife is really happy when you make something out of your life.. life gives us numerous lessons, we just have to be a good student.
ReplyDeleteCheerful..smiling.. bright.. this describes your writeups too :)
its a beautiful poem to say the least :)
ReplyDeleteThat is another one of your best poems I have read RS!! Love the simplicity of thoughts and expressions creating such beautiful pictures in the mind that one can remember long after reading it too!! Love that dame with the beauty spot on her chin and the monkeys grin ...LOL :D
ReplyDeleteThe central idea is so very well summed in the last stanza ~
"Lets be always happy
By making thinking right
And make life beautiful
Cheerful, smiling and bright.."
Well done RS!!
This is lovely Ramesh.

ReplyDeleteSo sweet. Practicing Happiness. I love it. : )
ReplyDeleteOh! That's exactly what my philosophy of life is! :D Life is how we approach it. If we make ourselves think positively and cherish every little moment, world will seem brighter and we will enjoy ourselves more. Love it!
ReplyDeleteIts not that I don't think its well written, I just disagree with the sentiment. People only stand in their own way so much.
ReplyDeleteA pretty fantasy, but nonetheless well written. Nice work.
Ms. Queenly
Happily written! :) I am happy to find such good poets like you on this blogosphere :)
ReplyDeleteSuch beautiful sentiments, RS... and so nice to follow!! Kinda my ideology too...
ReplyDeleteWhen we enjoy the smaller things in life, everything automatically starts falling in place.. :)

ReplyDeleteVery nice poem RS! Loved the verse
ReplyDelete"Cherish the little things, like the mole on a dame's chin".

ReplyDeleteYes, absolutely agree with you here! Perfect attitude and thinking. Law of attraction, you think positive, you feel happy, happiness will return to you! Bravo, lifting the spirits poem!
ReplyDeleteSo true. We often get lost in the so called 'big' problems of life and stop enjoying life's little pleasures. Enjoyed the poem immensely.
ReplyDeleteSo simple...so true....and many a times, in this rigamarole called life...we just dont realise the beauty around us...the simple power of thinking positive...
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
