His Bites of Roti.. ..Haiku

Prompt: Expectation

Pigeon gently lands
on her kitchen's window sill;
his bites of "roti"

and sometimes:

darkness descends and
she looks at her window sill;
dried bits of "roti "

Pigeon expects her to offer "Roti" and
she expects him to come and eat...yet:

Pigeon gently lands,
doesn't find his bites of roti;
window is closed

Another morning;
fluttering of pigeon's wings,
music to her ears

RS:)

"Roti" is a Hindi word for kind of Indian Bread..

I see a candle getting lit..

Exquisite, Magnificent, Crisp

I  See a Candle Getting Lit..

None can take away
the joyous vibrations and
the elation one experiences
while saying or hearing
delicious words like
"Magnificently beautiful,
Exquisitely fabulous,
Splendidly glittering
Marvelously glowing...
Wow...it's superb.."
Doesn't matter if winter
descends on some hearts
Yet compliments make
Ice too  feel the warmth
Ah, I  see a candle getting lit..

**

Her crisp compliment
leaves a magnificent taste;
exquisite timing

GIFT OF WINTER

a happy cascade of Haiku

Ah, wary earth
moves  away from Sun;

She is real cold;
sun tries to warm her with the
gift of winter

Gift of winter;
Christmas time glitters with a
star studded sky

smiles, joy, dance, songs , Santa and
a happy earth

Isn't It Time for New Resolutions....3WW

Combative, adjective: Ready or eager to fight; pugnacious.

Represent, verb: Be entitled or appointed to act or speak for (someone), esp. in an official capacity; of a competitor) participate in a sports event or other competition on behalf of (one's club, town, region, or country; be an elected member of a legislature for (a particular constituency, party, or group); constitute; amount to; depict (a particular subject) in a picture or other work of art.

Sluggish, adjective: Slow-moving or inactive; lacking energy or alertness; slow to respond or make progress.

Isn't It Time for New Resolutions....

Whenever my heart
wants me to represent
myself through it
my mind turns combative
and invites unwanted thoughts
turning my mood sluggish
I often wonder
why should it not
let me "be" my 'heart'
Why do I have to be
only my 'mind'
Just like any other combative
interference I  find
my dreams getting killed..
This war between
my heart and mind is often
silently witnessed by my soul
Spurred by its silence
sometimes, oh, sometimes
I do succeed in
snubbing my mind
and let my heart come
to the fore to represent me
and those days are never
heavy or sluggish
They bring speed and joy
which I really cherish...
I know that I will have
to be stronger
than my mind and heart
to support my soul
Well, then I ask you
isn't it time for new resolutions...

**

Combative hare
and the sluggish tortoise;
life represented

Nothing Extra-ordinary About It - 3WW

Written for 3WW

Highlight, Submit, Instruct

First, a Haiku

Sunlight highlights shades
as a mark of submission;
nature instructs

Nothing Extra-Ordinary About It

God's one line instruction
for me had been simple:
" Highlight all that is
good in others;
Don't submit to
Your own temptations.."

And I did what
All the ordinaries do
I highlighted
My own perceived strengths
And started submitting
to my own temptations

Then one day as I stood
In front of the mirror
I couldn't recognise myself
That's when the false layers
Got pealed one by one
And I realised my follies..

I started highlighting
All that was good in others
And never submitted
to any temptations
I was able to clearly
recall God's instructions

You want to know
How did I do that?
Well, I just blocked
all the external noise
And that's when God spoke
loud and clear once again

Well, I heard him this time
Realised, understood,
Made a clear choice and
The shift happened spontaneously
Had I taken time to decide
I would have remained ordinary

As you see my decision
To hear God just for
One more time carefully
Changed things for me
And you can see now I am
A LITTLE MORE THAN ORDINARY...

Ha, nothing extra-ordinary
About it..you know..

And A Pause Helps.... 3WW

Written for

Three Words Wednesday
Brief, Insist, Expose..

And A 'Pause' Helps..

A brief hint of
gleam in his eyes
Exposed what he had been
Hiding for a long time

She noticed, smiled
and let that moment
quietly pass by
Without insisting to know

He too understood
And a relationship faded
before it could start
Another became stronger

That's what happens
In those flickering moments
When life throws tests
And a 'pause' helps

I Found My Path.. .

Written for 3WW...

Wary, Curious, Inevitable

I found my path
When I had lost my way
Curious to know
What the future held
I kept on moving
With newer resolve
And as success looked inevitable
Some fellow travellers
In spite of being
On the same path
Tried to make me wary
Of my own choices
And that's when I made
Another choice -
Choice of ignoring them
I had to, else,
How would the foot prints
being left behind smile...

Thanks to 3WW...I am back..and shall stay for long, God willing..

Bless Me on Fourth Anniversary of My Blog....

To all my friends at Haiku Heights, Haiku My Heart, 3WW , OSI and other visitors...

November 14th, Indian Standard Time 01.25 p.m. (Almost the time too is very near to my first ever post..posted it 2.00 minutes earlier)

Fourth Anniversary of my Blog falls today....

Have been travelling and decided to glean a few moments to say thanks to all the friends and visitors from across the World
who have been encouraging, appreciating and guiding me along the way...Made a few friends, got mentors and cracked jokes with so many fellow travellers on this fascinating journey which continues...

Wrote poems, long poems..finding haiku stuck in them...and often the haiku would get transformed into poems..and I would keep the one that would appeal to my heart and soul..

Let me try both spontaneously here..as all the haiku and poems spilled on the pages over four years have mostly, almost all, flowed spontaneously..gifts from God and result of your blessings...

A haiku that turned into a poem...

Ah, Sun walks in
through my open window;
I smile in sleep

as the dream sudddenly glows
and I find myself
bathed in that unknown joy
in the realms of the Unknown..
a world where I often visit
and find words
hanging on the trees
ripening and falling
in a rhythm as I find
poems born & bloom in
the blissful moments
And I stay there
the gentle knocks of Sunbeams
on my face fail to
wake me up...

Ah, I wrote this one in my sleep..dreaming ..clearly..

And I find a haiku there in that poem:

hear them hit me soft
as I continue to sleep;
gentle polite sunbeams..

This is what has been happening as I slowly move towards the milestone of 1000 posts...

May it happen in the year 2014...Be with me... We will conntinue to Practice Happiness..

GROWING UP WITH THE BOOKS

When I was a child, I’d often be
Curious to know what happens next
So while choosing to read I’d find
The Mystery Books among the best

Then adolescence saw me concentrating
On my behavior and the looks
Eyes would wander in search of magic
I was keen on reading Romantic Books

While crossing thro’ the last of teens
As gifts from a childhood friend, I read
Ayn Rand’s epics The Atlas Shrugged
And timeless classic The Fountainhead.

20s & the 30s saw me as a grown-up
Who was searching for happier ways to live
That’s when I found myself relishing
The books that taught me to be ‘Positive’

Into the 40s and life led me towards
Finding meaning of life itself
Bend of mind pensive and philosophical
Lo! Books on philosophy filled my shelf

Now entering 50s, I find Blogging
Bringing about some kind of revolution
Sharing thoughts with discerning minds
Resulting into my humanistic evolution

Don’t know which way it’s headed now
But I may find true meaning of ‘Living’
Constant efforts may shift my focus
From ‘Taking’ to unconditional ‘Giving’

Would love to fulfill just one longing
No, no, it’s not about money or fame
But among the myriad books in shelves
There should be some bearing my Name

My 200th POST Feb 05, 2011

A cascade of Haiku

I Sit on a Rock, Moon Walks on Clouds...

I sit on a rock
Feet don’t reach water below
Lo! Waves jump to touch..

Lo! Waves jump to touch..
I feel sprinkles on my soul
Setting Sun smiles

Setting Sun smiles
Telling me to sink with it, ah,
I come out of depths

I come out of depths
Restless eyes look for heights
Mind jumps on the chance

Mind jumps on the chance
Let’s pride walk in quietly
Humility knows

Humility knows
She holds the heart tightly,
Heart beats soft and strong

Heart beats soft and strong
Keeps arrogance at bay
I detach myself

I detach myself
Pride melts, arrogance faints
Humility stays

Humility stays
Setting Sun beckons again
Dancing waves gleam gold

Dancing waves gleam gold
Sea of feelings settle, and
Moon walks on clouds

Moon walks on clouds
Softness soothes my soul ‘n mind
Moonbeam’s gentle touch

Moonbeam’s gentle touch
Happiness spills from my eyes
Stars roll down the cheeks

Stars roll down the cheeks
Moon, clouds and sea merge
God, let the dream stay

God let the dream stay
Fluttering wings of thoughts
I sit on a rock

MY 300TH POST.. July 09, 2011
Wow, good to see you
Blessing my three hundredth, hey,
My respect and thanks..

World May Never See Another Epic..

Winds respected and carried with them
Myriad tales of travelers told by trees
And words spread slowly
Turning them into intriguing stories

Stories then got quietly whispered
In many of more than willing ears
Discerning minds with their imaginations
Kept on adding narration over the years

Years saw them getting transformed into
Epics of thousands and thousands of pages
Embellished by discerning souls on the way
Original authors from among ancient sages

Sages who spent years and years
Evolving into wisdom’s glowing rays
Spreading light, blessing humanity
One can’t find them around today

Today’s winds also don’t carry any tales
For none shares with trees things specific
It’s indeed a matter of grave concern
That world may never see another Epic..

Epic is a careful recording of journeys
Of lives undertaken by a few souls blessed
Wonder if one records one’s own life
With all ups & downs, could it be an Epic, yes..

Yes, but for that let one first win one’s own mind
And become as responsible as ancient kings
As brave as soldiers who conquered the evil
Then only the tales will be carried by winds…

And a breathing Haiku...

So many footprints
Of loving souls , like flowers
Blooming in my heart...

My 500th Post, March 17, 2012

Five hundredth post, this!
shine together in my words
tears of joy and pain

Tears of joy and pain;
filled with your love and support,
I stand overwhelmed…

I stand overwhelmed
amidst these frozen moments;
both sun and moon shine

Both sun and moon shine
as earth takes another turn
I keep my balance..

I keep my balance
holding on to a moonbeam;
a small miracle, that!!

A small miracle that
words keep raining from skies
they grow on trees too

they grow on trees too
and many stem from your smiles
morning’s happy gifts

Morning's happy gifts
I find some hidden around
in fragrant flowers

In fragrant flowers;
butterflies too bring along
few fluttering words

Few fluttering words
I weave them all together
in haiku and poems

In haiku and poems
in each word , each sentence
I live happily…

I live happily;
blue and green meet quietly in
this beautiful space

This beautiful space
home for all my unbaked dreams;
I meet all of you ..

I meet all of you …
as my heart shouts out loud
hey, thank you, thank God!!

My 700th Post February 16, 2013..

a CASCADE OF HAIKU

Love Compromises
She embroiders
my initials on my shirt;
her love radiates

Her love radiates
making my tea also sweet;
No sugar add-ons

No sugar add-ons;
she allows me cookies as
love compromises

Love compromises
by giving more, seeking less;
a happier life, that

A happier life, that
When I read or write haiku ,
she embroiders..

Thanks for reaching here.... your visit is a delight and quite emboldening..don't forget to leave a comment pkease..

Smile Glows Through His Whole Being

WRITTEN FOR THE SUNDAY WHIRL..

fierce, filters, keep, enough, pieces, train,
cries, gusting, bitter, springs, south, out

Smile Glows Through His Whole Being

In spite of enough filters placed
Couldn’t help unnecessary
Pieces of information
Seep through and make
The train of his thoughts
Gusting at full speed
Jump tracks as the springs
In his mind get loosened up…
A fierce battle with his own self
Ensued bringing him face to face
With a bitter truth that
Made him realize his folly
The muffed sound of his cries
Meant to be picked up by the winds
Travelling north was carried
By those travelling south
But then it happens, isn’t it….
Time to tell about that one
Bitter truth which stemmed
As a deep realization
That his life was weaved by
The thread of his own choices…
His cries and tears washed off the dirt
And today his smile glows
Through his whole being….

The Sunday Whirl... A Dream..

Yes, he will achieve...

Where was the space on the floor
So he stayed nestled in his
own  inner space, confined...
If only he had respect for degrees
And persuaded himself to
Fulfill all that she dreamed
But he didn't have the vision
For some years now he is on the move
Carving a golden path ahead for himself
That would be the real tribute
So he thinks, to his Mom...
Whose vacant  eyes had spilled
A dream for  him in her last breath
Yes he will achieve...
for he has the will.. Period.
