Thanks to OSI.. 'Shackles' is a prompt proposed by me.. In fact I wrote the poem offered here a few years ago..when I realised that lots of time self-created shackles of doubts and preconceived notions held me tight blocking my learning... I needed to think free... I needed to learn from nature... I happened to read a saying by Lao Tzu... who said... " Nature does not hurry , yet every thing gets accomplished"... and that's when I started looking at the trees and realised that's what one needs to be like and this poem took birth.. I don't claim to have reached the state I write about.. but then with loads of negativity flowing all around everywhere , at least constant efforts help to ensure that it doesn't leave a longer impact...disturbing the flow... I am able to return faster..but then I am aware that focus will finally make me reach a lot better than if I had not found my path after having lost my way...
Here's my offering to all my friends and well wishers.. a poem in creation of which perhaps along with my heart, soul too contributed...
To Live Like A Human Tree
O’ God from all the shackles
let my mind become free
Let me grow in all directions
Just like an old tree
Let me bear the fruits
Of knowledge in every season
And offer them to one and all, from
Every caste, creed and religion
Let my roots become stronger
To birds of love branches be the hosts
And just like dry dead leaves
Shed from my mind unwanted thoughts
Unwise men may try to betray
Or even conspire to destroy me
Give me courage and the wisdom
To live like a Human Tree..
O’ God from all the shackles
Let my mind become free...
And how can my post be complete without a haiku... for Haiku Heights too..
Unshackle yourself,
Resonate with flow of life
Hey, smoothly sail through...
By: RS :)
May you be a free bird reaching your highest potential.
ReplyDeleteYour words are straight from heart.
I like your prayer, Ramesh. A little quirk here, combining the first and second seem to say that whatever God doesn't 'unshackle' then yourself should unshackle the rest.
ReplyDeleteThank your very much for the prompt. In the states we have procrastinators who are just finishing up their income tax of which I am one. So that means I had to make a 'quickie' again for this week. It is a nice word.
..
It is a beautiful poem Ramesh and very meaningful not just for you but all of us.
ReplyDeleteI admit I had trouble with this word so I'm even more happy to see what you did.
Funny how first we created a God (an image of him/her, if you please), made him everything that we are not and then aspired to be such. And somewhere in the process forgot that we are humans and thereby not perfect. Shouldn't our freedom then lie in the ability to make mistakes rather than evade them altogether? In knowing that these 'shackles' is just what humanity is all about?
ReplyDeleteYet, I do not disagree with the idea of bettering oneself. :)
Your prayers are humble and noble. :)
My response to Creation:
ReplyDeleteI agree to each word you wrote..except that I could not make out where in my poem I have written that we should not make mistakes.. in fact i am talking about a life totally free from shackles.. as a free human..free from any burden or fear of any judgement.. well, Creation, what mistakes we are talking about anyway..? Do they exist..can we undo things.. we can only learn..and that's what perhaps is focus here too.. God bless!!!
Aspiring to keep the mind free to build a store of positive strength is a wonderful idea!
ReplyDeleteInteresting that your poem and mine have to do with trees and shackles. Thanks for the prompt, Ramesh. I think I'll play around with it some more this week.
ReplyDeleteDancing Shadow Tree Unshackled
You can't beat a free mind. Great words.
ReplyDeletelet me bear fruits of knowledge in every season. such delicate yet very powerful words.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of "smoothly sailing through..." Unshackling is so important!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the prompt this week!
i can use that prayer too. its fabulous.
ReplyDeletestrong faith....good!
ReplyDeleteI love the poem; trees are the most selfless living things
ReplyDeleteThank you so much sir... for inviting me to this beautiful post. Really ... if we could really shed the unwanted thoughts as dry leaves and hold myself against the people who try to pull me down. I am going to write something positive now :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes I loved the fresh thought...that is to think like a tree..
And that " nature does not hurry, yet everything gets accomplished" Holds such great a learning.... a new direction. Beautiful write up. A right up should not only be a mental vent rather something from which everyone who reads it can take away something.
Take care
Regards
May I share this link on Face Book sir
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this very much Ramesh.
ReplyDeleteWe are all "shackled" at some point in life...be it by our own doing or that of someone/thing else. The tree sheds its "shackles", renewing itself with every season.
I would like to thank you for visiting my blog and for the warm welcome to OSI, which I'm now following and have posted a poem there too.
I too understand how negativity blocks. Everyone says, "Shake it off!' Not always so easy. However, if one was a human tree, one could shed those hurtful leaves, have the wisdom of deep roots and uplifted branches... A lot of insight here, Ramesh; I like it.
ReplyDeleteyou leave me speechless with this find... I just could not find the perfect words to compliment you on this literary creation of yours.
ReplyDeleteI could just say that you echoed the essence of Tagore's-In Praise of Tress.
I always believed that a real writer is one who with his words can give mankind a beautiful message... you are just there with this message of 'to live like a humble tree'.
Thank you for the permission sir. I am humbled :) :)
ReplyDeleteSir are you on Face Book ? If I may so ask ?
Regards
Shared it thus
ReplyDeleteHe is an awesome blogger. A guiding light. A person who has walked through life and could manage to gather all the learnings and all the sources of nectar for a beautiful , happy life, which he now shares with us, so that we don't waste an extra moment over remorse and look at every thing that happens to us like a wrapped gift of God, that is sure to bring us a smile when we unwrap it.
Feel humbled at his permission to share this :)
Thank you Ramesh sir

May all your prayers be granted!
May you grow tall and wide to reach the heights and roots deep within...
very well written.
Rameshji,I could see your comment for my post 'Imprisoned...' in my blogger page but not visible in 'Inner Space'.
ReplyDeleteI can't understand why is it so.
Hi Ramesh, I am so glad you came back today. I was here and read this yesterday. I copy and pasted the words to a note pad in my computer so I could read again. I this this was the first clue we were both on the same path. We I read your response above "free human..free from any burden or fear of any judgment+ I see we do want the same thing, Free to be me. It is only recently I found the real me. And I am still learning who I am. But I feel this is your most meaningful poem yet. You may want to add more to it so that it show the complete you in the future, Or I need to let go of my confusion and see it is there.
ReplyDeleteSending you a big hug & lots of love. E
your words resonate Rameshji.. the poem and haiku are too too too good.. Love it.. here is mine, ~ these are few of my favorite things ~

simply superb... such nice concept of a human tree... when everyone adhere to this concept world would be a better place to live ..
ReplyDelete@ Ramesh
ReplyDeleteNever said that the mistakes part was in the poem. It is just something I find people around me constantly battling with. Trying to break the 'shackles'... of society, of mental mental barriers, forgetting somewhere that the barriers exist because we believe them to.
A lovely prayer, indeed.
