Chivalry Doubted..

Chivalry

she flatly rejects
as he offers her his seat;
chivalry doubted

  1. That's exactly it: In my younger days I would have said a smiling no thank you. Nowadays I subside ungracefully into the vacated seat! I reckon my stoop and white hair need it.

  4. Very nice haiku. Rich with humanity. Chivalry can meets chivalry and grow more chivalry. This is a fine tradition. :-)

    I offer this response:

    young and strong she stands
    sure-footed on crowded bus
    she saw his cane

  5. Sadly today the world has its fair share of doubters, thanks to the disturbing change in attitude of people... Even genuine attempts of help are viewed with suspicion...

  7. I find it rather depressing nowadays as people sometimes offer me their seat on the bus. It makes me realise that I am getting OLD! maybe it would be more chivalrous if they pretended I was still too young to need their seat! Can't really decide which is most chivalrous!
